Instructors: Demery and Derek

At the age of 16, Line Dancing and Country Two Step brought Demery to the dance world. It wasn’t until many years later however that he was introduced to the West Coast Swing Dance Scene. Demery is a Chief Judge at over nine different swing events throughout the United States and Canada. When not acting as Chief Judge he also takes on the role of Assistant Chief Judge at many other events, including the U.S. Open.
Derek brings his knowledge of dance to the partnership with his B.A. in Dance from New Mexico State University. During his time at NMSU he appeared in all three dance companies which include NMSU DanceSport (Ballroom), Sol y Arena (Flamenco) and Contemporary Dance Theatre (Modern). Before transitioning into the West Coast Swing World, Derek obtained his Bronze Rhythm and Smooth Certifications with High Honors through Dance Vision International Dance Association.
Together Demery and Derek work hard, alongside the Jacksonville West Coast Swing Club, to help grow and cultivate their dance community with weekly dance classes. Besides group classes and privates Derek also helps to run one of the two monthly West Coast Swing dances, Jacksonville Floorplay.
